Where: EMCC Johnston Gymnasium, 354 Hogan Road, Bangor, ME
May is ALS month, and the 2nd Annual Kingsbury Classic will be expanding the ALS Associations’ reach from walks and fundraisers to a more youthful basketball audience. It will feature not only basketball, but live music by DJ Kristian Terison, DJ Evie D, and DJ Vynil Assassin, special guest appearances, and food and fun for the whole family. Following the tournament there will also be a celebration at Luna Bar & Grill in downtown Bangor. Sponsored by Flophouse Records, Eastern Maine Community College, E*mmaculate Designs, The Maine Edge, and FOX 22 and ABC-7, this 3-on-3 co-ed basketball tournament was created to increase the awareness of ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease) while enjoying family fun, basketball, and local entertainment.
All basketball players, no matter what age or gender, are welcome to enjoy the day’s activities. For younger players, we will be offering a Skills Clinic with College players beginning at 8:30 AM. For older athletes, we will be holding a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament beginning at 10:00 AM. At 1:00 PM enjoy the Exhibition All-Star Game between the Portland All-Stars and Bangor All-Stars, followed by the conclusion of the 3 on 3 Tournament. Bring the whole family, as we will be offering an obstacle course and face painting for the kids, a 50/50 raffle, and food and drinks provided courtesy of Pepsi and W.A. Bean and Sons.
Register online at WVII.com. Teams may be 4 players and pre-registration per team is only $50. Registration at the event is $60. All proceeds from this event shall benefit the Northern New England ALS Association. Their mission is to lead the fight to cure and treat ALS through global, cutting-edge research, and to empower people with Lou Gehrig’s disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.
